Read out the MAC address of Polar chest straps (and other BLE devices)

  • Download and install the nRF Connect App for Android (iOS cannot read out MAC addresses)

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=no.nordicsemi.android.mcp&hl=de&gl=US

  • Keep the Polar device next to you.

Note: Better put other Polar devices further away from you to avoid confusion with an unintentionally activated other Polar device.

  • Open the app and tap on “no filter” so that you can filter out unwanted devices

  • Adjust the RSSI Threshold further to the left
  • confirm with the tick symbol

  • press “scan” on the top of the app
  • Then keep the Polar device close to the phone and activate it by rubbing the area on the inside of the Polar (A) with slightly wet fingers:

  • Once the device turns on, you should see it in the scan list with its MAC address (here F0:BA:E4:78:EE:5F).

Note:

  • In the screenshot below, instead of “two” you the name should be “Polar” or whatever device you are looking for.
  • If you wait too long, you have to press the “scan” button again.
  • Since there is no off button on the Polar devices, bring the current Polar device out of range if you want to read out another one to avoid confusion.
